Customizing the Basic User View in Smart Arena allows administrators to tailor the navigation bar and access rights for users based on their roles.
By adjusting these settings administrators can control which tabs and features are visible to users with specific roles (See roles and permissions), ensuring that each role has access only to the tools and content relevant to their responsibilities. This feature enhances user experience by simplifying navigation and aligning it with organizational needs, while also maintaining security and efficiency.
To customize the Basic user view, specifically, the navigation bar at the top of the page, go to Organization Management in the navigation menu, select the Manage organization tab and go under Advanced settings.
When customizing the view for all users in Smart Arena, specific access rights can be checked for each user role in the system settings. According to what rights each role has checked, the tabs in the navigation bar will be visible.
Here’s what happens when options are checked or unchecked for user roles:
Public Catalog Access
Checked: users with certain roles can access the Smart Arena content store module. They will be able to view and purchase content created by external content developers.
Unchecked: users with certain roles cannot access the public catalog. They will not see external content developers’ materials or have the ability to purchase such content.
Private Catalog Access
Checked: users with certain roles can access, view, and potentially enroll in courses created within the organization’s private catalog. This catalog contains internal content created by the organization’s developers.
Unchecked: users with certain roles cannot see or access private catalog content. They will be restricted from viewing internal organizational courses.
Content Repository Access
Checked: users with certain roles can view content within the organization's content repository. They can access stored materials used for internal training and resources.
Unchecked: users with certain roles will be unable to view any content in the content repository. Access to organizational resources and stored materials will be restricted.
Access levels should align with the responsibilities of each role.
Public Catalogue Access should be granted to all roles, including guests, allowing them to view and use external content.
Private Catalogue Access should be available to content developers, HR managers, organizational unit managers, instructors, and basic users for internal courses, while guests should be excluded to protect proprietary content.
Content Repository Access should be limited to content developers, HR managers, organizational unit managers, and instructors for creating, managing, and delivering resources, while basic users and guests should not have access to ensure data security and maintain content integrity.
This setup ensures each role has the access it needs while safeguarding sensitive content.
