When content is created, the system automatically assigns the creator as the author. Once the author finalizes the content or reaches the point where feedback is needed, he can assign another person as the author.
This new author is then credited for the content (the creator is no longer visible) and gains access rights to view and edit the content. However, they:
Cannot publish changes to organized courses (the last published version remains visible).
Cannot organize new courses, only the ones they are assigned to (except administrators).
Can only access the content they are listed as the author of.
