Course reporting

Updated over 5 months ago

Course reporting tab can be found under Reporting in the navigation menu.

The Course Reporting section in Smart Arena offers an overview of e-learning course performance and user progress, providing administrators and with valuable insights. The date selector allows users to specify a custom time frame, enabling them to focus on specific periods and retrieve the most relevant data. A variety of advanced filtering options helps refine the data further, making it easier to focus on specific courses, user groups, or performance metrics. For added convenience, reports can be exported in formats such as XLS, CSV, or PDF, enabling offline analysis, sharing with stakeholders, or meeting compliance requirements.

Let’s explore Course Reporting. By entering a date range, administrators can select the period for which you want to retrieve data and click Show. The list will display the data for the selected period.

The reporting system provides a detailed breakdown of key metrics for each course. These include the number of participants enrolled, those who started and completed the course, the average progress percentage, and the average score from assessments. Additional metrics, such as total time spent on the course and the average time learners spent per session, offer insights into learner engagement and interaction with the content.

Furthermore, the actions section allows administrators to access individual courses and their learners' progress.

Use the search bar to find a specific e-course.

Advanced filtering options

Administrators can apply various filters to the course list by clicking on the advanced filtering options.

  • Filter the content by checking the one you are looking for on the content list.

  • Select a specific content category from public and private content.

  • Filter organizational units by selecting a unit from the list, by clicking Show deleted organizational units you can see the inactive organizational units. Expend all to see the subordinate units.

  • Additional options allow filtering purchased or market courses.

A practical use case for filtering options in Course reporting is when a training manager needs to analyze course participation and performance for a specific department within an organization. For instance, they can use the Organizational Units filter to narrow results to the "Sales" team and include inactive units by selecting "Show deleted organizational units."

Additionally, they can refine the search further by using the Content Categories filter to focus only on private courses relevant to internal training. If the training manager needs to evaluate a specific course, they can use the Contents filter to select that course.

For market-specific evaluations, they can use the Additional Options filter to isolate purchased courses. These filters ensure that the manager retrieves precise data, saving time and enabling targeted insights for reporting, compliance, or strategic planning.

Actions column

When the course is a multicourse (has more then one content), admins can see individual module statistics by clicking the + button under Actions.

The table provides detailed statistics for individual modules within a multicourse, allowing administrators and instructors to monitor learner engagement and performance at a granular level. Each row represents a specific module and includes key metrics such as the number of learners enrolled, started, and completed, as well as the average progress percentage and average score achieved. Additionally, it shows the total time all learners have spent on the module and the average time per learner. These insights help identify areas where learners may excel or face challenges, enabling targeted improvements to the course content and ensuring effective learning outcomes.

Top courses

Below the Course list, there is information about the courses with the most enrolled users, the courses that have been completed the most, the courses with the most average time per user, and the most wish-listed courses.

Exporting the data

The list can be exported in XLS, CSV, or PDF formats.

By clicking on the name of an e-course, detailed statistics for the selected e-course will be displayed.

At the top of this view, basic information about the e-course is shown. The detailed course view provides an overview of key performance and engagement metrics for a course. It displays the course title, start date, and duration.

  • Progress metrics include the number of users who have completed, started, and enrolled in the course.

Users details

In the Users section, administrators can review each user's progress in the e-course. The list displays the users' data, course status, and progress.

When the user has finished the course, a wheel button appears in the actions column, with which we can see detailed information about assessments and certification.

Assessment details

The detailed user assessment view for a specific course provides an overview of the user's assessment performance. It displays the user's name, the course title, and key assessment details, including:

  • total number of questions,

  • the passing score threshold,

  • the maximum allowed time for the assessment, and the

  • user's final score.

The view also includes a section for finished assessments, listing each attempt with information on whether the attempt was passed, the time taken, the score achieved, and the option to review the answers.

By clicking on the Answers button, a page with Assessment details and the Result sheet with individual answers appears.

Each attempt is displayed chronologically, showing progress across multiple tries, along with tools to analyze or manage the results.

Here the administrator can remove failed assessment attempts if the user was unable to finish the course because of unsuccessful attempts. You can do that by clicking the trash can by the attempt you want to remove. See Reactivating Course Enrollment and Assessment Opportunities.

Note: The best attempt can not be deleted. The user will have as many new attempts as we deleted. If we delete 2 out of 3 possible, they can try 2 more times.
